October and November were fruitful months for Career Boot Campers. Who are they? – Motivated people willing to develop skills and competences to target their market and simply to become more confident and positive in whatever they do.
The interest to this career coaching program was huge, but only six people successfully got on board in the result of the final selection.
Career Boot Camp is a 6 weeks program during which participants were engaged into various workshops covering such topics as CV first impression, interview process, goal setting and planning, job hunting and networking in Sweden, online profile – presentation of professional and personal sides and much more. In order to apply knowledge and skills in practice, all the participants got set of personal and professional challenges to overcome during the week. It was not easy, as each of them was pushed out of comfort zone. But as it turned out – exactly this push led them to new opportunities, discoveries, jobs and meetings with people whom they wouldn’t meet staying in their comfort zone.
And the most important in the whole process was sharing experience, as group coaching brings together many perspectives and ideas. Non-formal setting, discussions, meetings with the companies – all was a great asset to the campers.
And yes, FUN was one of the major factors of success! As an example, one of the participants who didn’t feel confident in networking with people, got a challenge to go to the career fair, research the companies there, ask them the right questions, make whatever it takes to positively remember you.
As a proof of that, our camper got a task to make a selfie with all the people he talked to. With the high level of adrenalin, excitement, and fear he got what he wanted – new people in his network who 100% remembered him when he contacted/met them after the career fair.
In collection of Career Boot Camp there are many more moments like this! Concrete goals, evaluation of interests and needs, better structure, practical knowledge and ACTION component caused so many positive changes in the campers’ life.
Now they freely network with people, organise meet-ups and workshops by themselves, meet companies, know how to present themselves online and face-to-face, got career perspectives and changed priorities. They are definitely not the same people as they were before entering Career Boot Camp.
