Networking all year round

Networking skills become more and more important in everyday life. Doesn’t matter whether you work or study, but for sure if you want to grow and develop, you need to meet people, share and exchange knowledge and experiences, get friends for life and good professional connections.

It might be hard for you to push yourself out of your comfort zone and contact people you’d like to meet, but Sweden gives you many networking opportunities! All you need is just to pop up in the right place and meet people, as they are already waiting for you to come and talk to them. If at current stage you are not able to create networking opportunities for yourself, use what is already here for you! I mean all possible career fairs, mingles, educational breakfasts and lunch meetings, etc.


And here is the sweet part – the list of events that should be a MUST for you to attend during the year:


Book Fair in Svenskamässan is a big exhibition event where you can find your favourite books, meet their authors, take part in various seminars, lectures and workshops. And even if you are not a book-warm, this event is a great opportunity to network and meet new people


SDD (Software Development Day)  is a neutral arena for cross-industry knowledge sharing in software development. The purpose of the conference is to contribute to innovations, new collaborations and companies, and to strengthen the area of ​​ICT in Sweden. The Lindholmen Software Development Day is a collaboration between Ericsson, Chalmers, University of Gothenburg, Volvo Cars, Volvo Group, Cybercom, Knowit, Ascom, Combitech, Business Region Göteborg and Lindholmen Science Park.


Gadden is a career fair for ambitious students within the fields of business, economics, law, logistics and environmental science. Even if you don’t belong to any of these fields, this fair is a good chance to make new connections, ask companies about your options, as they might have something for you as well!

Date-IT is the labour fair directed towards Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. This fair is the great opportunity for students and companies to meet and network.

Global Week is an arena for discussions and talks about global social challenges. It provides you with more in-depth knowledge, cross-border encounters and perspectives. Here you will meet researchers, national and international experts, students and employees at University of Gothenburg. The programme usually involves lectures, panel talks, debates and workshops, and of course mingle during coffee breaks.


TEDx is an inspirational and motivational conference that serves as a unique meeting platform in the region of Göteborg to cross fertilize ideas and people from different professions, ages and backgrounds.


Charm is Chalmers Student Union’s career fair and is arranged every year in February. This fair is a perfect opportunity to expand your professional network and see what the future has to offer.

Spira is a part of GÖTA student union and responsible for arranging a labour market fair for students in social science. The event aims to inspire students, and show them different paths to go after their education. The fair includes lectures, workshops and the possibility to meet and talk to employers in different sectors.


Gösta is a yearly job fair in the field of IT organised in Lindholmen, Gothenburg. The purpose of this career fair is to connect students with the companies. You are not and IT-student? – it’s still worth to attend this event to keep yourslelf updated about the industry needs, meet new people and get new ideas to develop in your field of work/study.


MEG (Media Days Gothenburg) aims to build an indispensable Nordic meeting point where both established industry representatives and the general audience can meet, learn, exchange ideas, develop their businesses and be entertained, challenged and surprised.

Career Days is a big job fair where you can meet companies from various fields, take part in different events and competitions and develop your personal and professional network.
